ART PAPER 3 Drawing or Painting from a Living Person
100 Marks (Three hours)
INSTRUCTIONS
** This paper is for the use of the Supervisor only, in consultation with the Art Teacher.
** Attention is directed to the syllabus and to the Standing Instructions as given in the syllabus book.

** The Supervisor is asked to ensure that the candidate’s Unique Identification Number (UID), is
written clearly on the top right-hand corner of the front surface of the paper.
** It may prove impossible to give marks for the work unless the Unique Identification
Number (UID is legible.
** Each candidate is required to fill in the OMR sheet as instructed and attach it to the front
surface of the paper.
** Candidates should be instructed that in either alternative, if the work is painted, the relevant
part of the background must be included and, if the work is drawn, they should bear in mind the
size and placing of their drawing on their sheet of paper.
Any one of the two alternatives set below may be selected.
A. Candidates should make the figure of a dancer (in any form of dance). She/he should be striking
an evocative pose. The face too should reflect the emotion correlated to the pose.
OR
B. Candidates should draw the face of a Sikh gentleman. He should be wearing a turban and sporting
a beard and a moustache.
Applied Art :
Time : Three hours
** Instruments and tracing paper are allowed, but you are advised to restrict their use to the minimum possible.
** Write your name and Index Number on the top right hand corner of the front surface of the paper.
** Except where the question asks for a particular medium to be used, candidates are recommended to consider the choice of different media and processes and are reminded that the following are permissible: Coloured ink, poster and water colours, stencil, wax resist, collage, or printing from lino, potato, vegetable or fruit, or the use of any material such as cardboard or string which will give an interesting texture.
** The intended marks for questions or parts of questions are given in brackets [ ].
Attempt any one of the following questions: [100]
1. Design an attractive greeting card titled „HAPPY BIRTHDAY? in not more than four colours. The size of the card should be 25 cm by 15 cm.
2. Design an illustrated poster in not more than four colours incorporating the words “BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER”. The size of the poster should be 35 cm by 25 cm.
Drawing or Painting from Nature :
Time :Three hours
** This Paper is for the use of only the Supervising Examiner, in consultation with the Art Teacher.
** Attention is drawn to the syllabus and to the Instructions as given in the subject syllabus for the March 2011 Examination, pages 170 to 174.
** Candidates must be instructed that ruling by any means whatsoever is forbidden.
** The candidate’s Index Number must be written clearly on the top right hand corner of the front surface of the paper.
** The intended marks for questions or parts of questions are given in brackets [ ].
Candidates may attempt either Theme A or Theme B. : [100]
Theme A :
Each candidate must be provided with a spray of PETUNIA or NASTURTIUM flowers with some leaves and two buds. The candidates may be allowed to handle it in any way i.e. keep it on the desk or table.
Special attention should be paid to form, structure, tone and colour. Note: Where it is not possible to get the required flower, a similar flower available may be provided. The name of the flower must be mentioned.
OR
Theme B :
A detailed study of a flowering MARIGOLD (GENDA) plant in a pot. Candidates should draw and paint the plant from sight in relation to its natural background. Special attention should be paid to form, structure and composition.
