PART-A :

c) Consider sending an object of size O = 100k bytes from server to client. Let S = 536 bytes and RTT = 100msec. suppose the transport protocol uses static window with window size W.

i) For a transmission rate of 28kbps, determine the minimum possible latency. Determine the min window size that achieves this latency.
ii) Repeat (i) for 100kbps.
ii) Repeat (i) for 1Mbps.

Computer Networks and the Internet: What Is the Internet?, The Network Edge, The Network Core, Delay, Loss, and throughput in Packet–Switched Networks, Protocol Layers and their Service Models, History of computer networking and Internet.

UNIT – II :
Application Layer: Principles of Network Applications, The Web and HTTP, File Transfer: FTP, Electronic Mail in the Internet, DNS–The Internet’s Directory Service, P2P File Applications.

UNIT – III :
Transport Layer: Introduction and Transport– Layer Services, Multiplexing and De– multiplexing.
Connectionless Transport: UDP, Principles of Reliable Data Transfer, Connection– Oriented Transport: TCP.

UNIT – IV :
The Network Layer : Introduction, Virtual Circuit and Datagram Networks, What’s Inside a Router? The Internet Protocol (IP): Forwarding and Addressing in the Internet, Routing Algorithms, Broadcast and Multicast Routing

UNIT – V :
The Link Layer and Local Area Networks: Link Layer: Introduction and Services, Error– Detection and Correction Techniques Multiple Access Protocols Link–Layer Addressing, Ethernet Interconnections: Hubs and Switches. PPP: The Point–to–Point Protocol Link Virtualization: A Network as a Link Layer
