Section – A
(Long Answer Questions)
Answer any two questions. Each question carries 15 marks. 2 × 15 = 30
1. Write a note on different ‘rasas’ as described by Bharata in his Natyashastra.
2. Elaborate Aristitoles’ definition of tragedy and comment on the importance of catharsis in tragedy.

3. Discuss T.S. Eliot’s views on tradition and its relationship with the individual talent.
4. What is feminism ? What does Elaine Showalter mean by Feminist Poetics ?

Section – B : (Short Answer Questions)
Answer any four questions. Each question carries 5 marks
1. What is Vakrokti according to Acharya Kuntaka ?

3. Briefly describe Samuel Johnson’s view of Tragi-comedy.

Note : This paper is of sixty (60) marks divided into three (03) sections A, B, and C. Attempt the questions contained in these sections according to the detailed instructions given therein.

Section – A : (Long Answer Type Questions)
Note : Section ‘A’ contains four (04) long-answer-type questions of fifteen (15) marks each. Learners are required to answer any two (02) questions only. (2×15=30)
1. What are the basic tenets of the theory of Vakrokti?
2. Elaborate the definition of tragedy given by Aristotle in his Poetics.
3. Discuss Coleridge’s theory of Fancy and Imagination.
4. Write an essay on Simone De Beauvoir as a feminist.

Section – B : (Short Answer Type Questions)
Note : Section ‘B’ contains eight (08) short-answer-type questions of five (05) marks each. Learners are required to answer any four (04) questions only. (4×5=20)
