Q1. Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions that follow :
India has a monsoon-type of climate, which is marked by relatively dry winters and rainy summers. The word „monsoon‟ is derived from the Arabic „mousim‟ which means season.

The term basically refers to a seasonal wind, which blows with consistency and regularity during a part of the year, and which is either absent or flows from another direction for the rest of the year. Such changes of winds are primarily due to differential heating and cooling of the various parts of the earth.

The monsoon is vital to the Indian way of life because agriculture is dependent on its arrival. Delayed or absent monsoon showers can cause disaster to the crops.

Q4. Read the following telephonic conversation between Mr. Prasad and Anil.
Mr. Prasad : Hello.
Anil : Hello. Good evening. May I talk to Raj?

Mr. Prasad

Anil : I am his classmate, Amar from his school. I heard Raj was unwell, so he had not attended school today.

Mr. Prasad
: I‟m sorry, Raj has gone to the doctor with his mother. May I take a message?
Anil : Thank you uncle. Please inform him that there shall be an extra class of English tomorrow. The school shall get over at 2 O‟clock, instead of 1:30 p.m. The English Teacher, Mr. Das has told us to get our reader tomorrow.

Mr. Prasad : Goodbye.

Since Mr. Prasad (Raj‟s father) has to go out, he leaves a message for Raj. Write a message from Mr. Prasad to Raj, in about 50 words. Put the message in the box.
