Gandhiji lived in South Africa from 1892 to 1914. He observed there the inhuman treatment meted out to African and Indian people by the Europeans. He published his experiences with realistic descriptions when he returned to India. Those accounts were over circulated in England and South Africa in an exaggerated form, which annoyed the whites living in South Africa with Gandhiji.
