1. “An architect is an artist too”. Comment on this statement highlighting the importance the course arts & graphics in the course curriculum of B.Arch. (10)
2. Explain colour fundamentals (as our of the most important elements of design). How do cool colour effect us (human beings) emotionally. (10)

3. Design and present a logo for department of architecture of Teerthanker Mahaveer University at Moradabad. Render in either of the mediums like ordinary pencil, crayon colours, water colour etc best suited to your required skill(s). (10)

4. Differentiation of the following : (10)
a) Shape of Form
b) Visual Texture and Tactile Texture
5. Sketch & render the view of one corner of the examination hall as you see it from seal that you are sealed on. Use of different grader of percales is premised. (10)

6. Draw an apple, banana, pear, pineapple and grapes in fruit basket. Render them in crayon colours to achieve maximum of still life impact. (10)
7. Sketch any one of the following with suitable rendering : (10) a) A bottle palm (free) b) A motor cycle

1. Prepare a scene from Nature comprising of shrubs, trees, grass, water, etc. in a box of size 30cm x 20cm. (18)
2. Explain the relevance of Art and Religion. (16)

3. How Art is present in Architecture? Explain the same in the context of emotional aspect of aesthetics.
4. What are the principles of Design? Explain any one in detail. (16)
5. Draw a simple Rangoli Pattern for New Year theme using straight lines and curves. (16)

B.Arch. I (First) Semester Examination 2014-15 :
1. Design and present a 2D composition of planes (any four) to be selected from squares, circles, right-angled triangles, rectangles and regular octagons of various sizes and proportions. Colour render the composition and present it on half imperial sheet. (18)

2. What are various Principles of Design? How do they help a designer in aesthetically perfecting a design and help a critic in evaluating a design? Quote/ present relevant examples through thumbnail sketches. (16)

3. Differentiate between any four of the following: (4×4=16)
a) Advancing Colours and Reseeding Colours
b) Symmetrical Balance and Asymmetrical/ Occult Balance
c) Tint and Tone
d) Visual Texture and Tactile Texture
e) Scale and proportions

4. What is a Good Design? What are the parameters of creating and evaluating a good design? (16)
5. Write short notes on any two of the following (8+8)
a) Rasa(s) in Art and Architecture
b) Colour schemes in Art and Architecture
c) Impressionism and Cubism in Art and Architecture

B.Arch. I (First) Semester Examination 2013-14 :
1. You are called upon to draw a flooring pattern in a rectangle of 20cm 20cm for the entrance foyer of the temple. The flooring pattern should depict the glimpses of spirituality attained by religion.

It can be realistic abstract or based on simple geometric shapes. The flooring pattern needs to be meaningful and fit to context. The use of color, techniques and related material are left to choice of candidate. (18)

2. Write an illustrated essay on the relevance of Art to visual aspects. Draw upon the relation of Art and society. Give relevant examples. (16)
3. a) How Art is applicable to Architecture? (8)
b) Write aesthetic aspect of Art giving examples from history. (8)

4. Discuss the primary elements by which design is perceived. Give illustrations to support your answer. (16)
5. Draw the following in water/poster color medium. (8+8)
a) Two trees of distinctive form and character
b) Rocks in landscape of water
