Section – A : (Long Answer Type Questions)
Note : Section ‘A’ contains four (04) long-answer-type questions of fifteen (15) marks each. Learners are required to answer any two (02) questions only. (2×15=30)
1. Discuss how the literature of the Victorian Age reflects the rapid social changes that were taking place in Britain at the time.
2. What is the significance of the title of Great Expections by Charles Dickes? Describe what happens to Pip’s great expectations.
3. Discuss how Thomas Hardy’s novel The Return of the Native brings out the conflict between man and nature.
4. Referring to the text The Subjection of Women Comment on how John Stuart Mill argues against the view that women are naturally inferior to men.

Note : Section ‘B’ contains eight (08) short-answer-type questions of five (05) marks each. Learners are required to answer any four (04) questions only. (4×5=20)

8. Discuss Walter Pater as the theorist of the aesthetic movement, with reference to Studies in the History of the Renaissance.
