If coefficient of friction for nut and bolt is 0.1 and for nut and bearing surface is 0.16, find the force required at the end of spanner 500 mm long when the lower end of bolt is 10 kN ?

A square steel rod 20 mm × 20 mm in section to carry an axial of 100 kN. Calculate the shortening in length of 50 mm, E = 2.14 × 10 ∧ 8 kN/m sq. ?

18. Define torsion. Write its assumptions.

19. Classify types of flat belt drive.
OR
Find power transmitted by belt running over a pulley of 600 mm diameter at 200 rpm. The coefficient of friction between the belt and pulley is 0.45, angle of lap 160 degree and max. Tension in the belt is 2500 N.

20. What is Gears ? Write the classification of Gears.
OR
Define modulus of elasticity, modulus of rigidity, bulk modulus and passions ratio.
