Holiday Cards :

Examples of holiday cards are given below. You can make card on any festival (national or international). Draw your card on page 3 and write your details on page 2.
Class 7 – 12 :
Monochrome :
** This challenge of this drawing/painting contest is to create a monochrome drawing/painting, that is to use one color only, plus white, to create a drawing/painting. A monochrome or monochromatic drawing/painting is one created using only one color or hue. Artists famed for their monochrome drawing/paintings include Yves Klein (who used a special blue he created, called International Klein Blue, IKB), Ed Reinhardt (who used black), and John Virtue (white acrylic paint and black ink).
** The aim is to discover that tone is as important as hue (color) in creating a satisfying drawing/ painting, perhaps even more so. Choice of subject is up to you. Draw your painting on page 3 and fill up your details on page 2.
** The challenge of this contest is to draw/paint using only one color. It doesn’t matter what the subject is nor what color you select, though you’ll find that dark colors work best in a monochrome drawing/painting. Do some experimentation to see for yourself what mood different colors conveys (for instance, blue suggests sadness and cold; red anger and heat; orange/yellow happiness and sunshine).
** Add white to help create tone if you wish, or vary the thickness of the colour/paint to allow for the white of the paper or canvas to show through.
** Remember that, unless you’re dedicated to realism, you’re free to create tonal contrast where it doesn’t exist if it makes for a better drawing/painting. To quote Whistler, “Nature contains the elements, in colour and form, of all pictures, as the keyboard contains the notes of all music. But the artist is born to pick, to choose, and group … these elements, that the result may be beautiful.”
